PMS student wins at 4-H Poultry Show | People
Title (Max 100 Characters)
Petal Middle School student, Brendan Chatham, placed first in the Junior Division of the Forrest County Poultry Show sponsored by 4H.
Brendan attended a day-long training session in order to receive two sets of 20 chicks only a day or two old. Since Brendan completed the project, he is nationally and state certified to sell organic eggs and poultry meat.
During the process, he had to keep a notebook of the project, recording chick development, feeding schedules and amounts, vaccinations but mainly tracking costs.
The notebook is 50% of the judging criteria, but he was also asked specific questions about his chicks and the efforts he made throughout the project.
